Permanent Senior Lecturer, Dili Institute of Technology Research Interest: Human Resource Management, Lecturer Performance, Motivation, Emotional Intelligence

Dr Carla Alexandra da Costa is a Permanent Senior Lecturer at the Dili Institute of Technology, specialising in human resource management with a particular interest in higher education contexts. Her academic work centres on the performance of lecturers, examining how factors such as motivation, emotional intelligence, and professional collaboration contribute to improved outcomes in teaching and research. Through her studies, she has highlighted the importance of adaptability and personality traits as mediating variables that shape lecturer performance in both private and public universities in Timor-Leste.

Her research also extends to the broader organisational setting, where she has investigated the influence of leadership style, teamwork, and employee involvement on institutional performance. By integrating theoretical perspectives with empirical evidence from Timor-Leste, Dr da Costa provides valuable insights into how educational institutions can foster more effective, motivated, and resilient academic staff. This contribution is particularly significant in emerging higher education systems, where the quality of human capital is closely tied to national development goals.

In addition to her research, Dr da Costa has been actively engaged in mentoring young academics and contributing to academic governance at DIT. Her scholarly activities demonstrate a consistent effort to link human resource management theory with practical applications, making her an important contributor to the strengthening of educational quality and institutional capacity in Timor-Leste.
